let there be light

Quote of the day:

“…light and dark give form to the concept of clothing as possessing its own life. The mystery that Dali offers is the essential paradox of clothing.”

(Dali’s Night and day clothes of body, Martin, Richard)

Quote of the day:

“ Light and dark are not antagonistic to each other. They are counterparts, like the yin and yang...Without shade or darkness, light loses much of its meaning; Patterns of light and shade render the prominences of surfaces and objects in the visual field.”

(Gordon, Gary 2005 Architectural Lighting Magazine)

A German artist, Simon Schubert captivated me with his series of artwork 'White Imprint'.

Using just creases and dents he was able to create an impressive and highly detailed architectural and interior portraits onto white pieces of paper.

It was interesting to see how one can skillfully manipulate surface of the paper as to create illusion of three dimensional shapes and spaces that appears to be so real.

All you need is just the right amount of lighting and shade to see the amazing effect of it all.
